Where does water go when it washes off of the roof of your house and into your yard?   It runs to the nearest stream, picking up pet waste, fertilizers, and pesticides along the way!  This water causes stream bank erosion and decreases the quality of our streams.

You can help prevent both erosion and non-point source pollution while simultaneously saving water, energy and money.  Sounds too good to be true, right?

A rain barrel is a rainwater harvesting system that you can make and connect to a downspout from your house or another building (school, church, office building, etc…).  The water is collected in a large barrel and can then be used to water plants, wash your car, or let slowly percolate back into the groundwater system.  Check our calendar for upcoming workshops.
